Wayne Boulais, Managing Director, Apex Venture Partners
Mr. Boulais is currently a Managing Director at Apex Venture Partners. Mr. Boulais' area of investment focus is enterprise software, wireless communications and alternative energy. Prior to his investment experience, Mr. Boulais was a principal at Mercer Management Consulting (now Oliver Wyman) in the communications, information and entertainment practice. Before attending business school, Mr. Boulais was a Senior Development Engineer at Raytheon Corporation where he led development efforts to build sub-systems for satellite and wireless communication systems. Mr. Boulais holds a MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Master and Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from University of Massachusetts.
Gary D. Conley, Chairman, SolFocus, Inc.
Gary is the Chairman of SolFocus, Inc. He founded the company in 2005 to pursue the commercialization of CPV technology. Prior to founding SolFocus and orchestrating both the technical and business elements of its global collaboration, Gary was at the helm of corporations in a variety of sectors ranging from renewables research (H2Go), semi-conductor test equipment (EPRO, Credence Corporation, GuideTech), Singapore-based semiconductor equipment distribution (Engage), and real-time flight intelligence services. Gary brings a wide breadth of cross-industrial, technical and scientific knowledge to bear on his leadership of SolFocus - enabling world-class technical and commercial advances.
Mark Crowley, President and CEO, SolFocus, Inc.
Mark Crowley is President and CEO of SolFocus, Inc. Prior to joining SolFocus, he was VP of West Coast Operations at Lockheed Martin Space Systems. He has over 25 years of technical and program management experience from Lockheed Martin where he served as VP of Technical Operations, VP of Programs and Subcontracts, as well as VP and Program Director of the company's SBIRS program. He began his career at General Electric and then GE/Martin Marietta Astro Space. He has a BS in Aeronautical & Astronautical Engineering from the University of Illinois, an MS in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University, and holds an MS degree in Management through the Stanford Sloan Program.
Steve Parry, Managing Member, NGEN Partners, LLC.
A longtime member of the Canadian mining fraternity, Steve is a geologist with more than 25 years of operational and senior management experience. Prior to joining NGEN, he was employed by BHP Billiton, the world’s largest diversified resource company, as a member of the corporate venturing team and as General Manager, Innovation responsible for the company’s global investment portfolio in junior resource startups. Steve is Chairman of Powerspan Corporation, and a director of Pionetics, EnviroTower, Artificial , Venture Vehicles and Sol Focus, Inc. Originally from Chicago, he is a graduate of Queen’s University and the University of Western Ontario, and was awarded the Canada 125 Medal for his activist role in support of sustainability in northern Canadian resource communities.
Scott Sandell, General Partner, New Enterprise Associates
Scott joined NEA in 1996 as an Associate, became a Partner in 1999 and a General Partner in 2000. Scott focuses on investments in information technology and alternative energy, and is responsible for NEA’s activities in China. Present board memberships include Agami Systems, Bloom Energy, Cassatt, Data, Dexterra, DreamFactory, HelioVolt, SolFocus, Spreadtrum Communications, SugarCRM, Tableau Software, Telegent and Teneros. He also serves as Co-Chairman of the board of the Software Development Forum. Scott started his career at the Boston Consulting Group and later joined C-ATS Software as the company's first salesman. He founded and ran the European Subsidiary before attending Stanford Business School. During and after business school, Scott was a Product Manager at Microsoft, where he worked on Windows 95. In addition to an MBA from Stanford, Scott holds an AB in Engineering Sciences from Dartmouth College.
