Structural Mechanical Engineer

This individual will have technical leadership responsible for SolFocus’ Tracker and Mechanical Structural design. This position requires a strong engineering fundamentals background and knowledge in mechanical structural design, with emphasis on outdoor structures, effects of weather and application of code.

Key Responsibilities

• Be a primary product design resource for SolFocus Tracker and CPV System
• Execute prototyping, testing and product design verification
• Structural analysis of product assemblies
• Prepare detailed 3D CAD models and product tree and documentation including dimensioned part drawings, Bills of Materials, assembly procedures, and test procedures.
• Provide support to the manufacturing group. 

  Skills

• Must be able to work as a member of highly interactive and dynamic team.
• Must demonstrate practical experiences in design for manufacturing, design for testing, design for reliability.
• Fluent in daily use of Solidworks is a must.
• Must be Fluent in daily use of FEA software. ANSYS experience is highly desired.

  Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of product design experience; experience in steel mechanical structural is a must.
• BS Mechanical Engineering, MS/Ph.D. preferred.
• Strong knowledge mechanical process such as welding, riveting, and bending is highly desirable.
• Knowledge in motors, gears and bearing application and selection is highly desirable.
• Knowledge in metallic design and construction using trusses and tension cables is desirable
