Mechanical Engineer-Glass

This position reports to the SolFocus Manufacturing Management in China and is part of the China Operations Team. This position is responsible for leading mechanical and process engineering activities in solar mirror manufacturing and assembly operations in China.

Responsibilities

  • Gain proficiency in mirror manufacturing and assembly processes and related equipment established in the US.
  • Transfer mirror manufacturing equipment and processes from operation in US to China operation.
  • Work from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to implement mirror manufacturing equipment and processes in China.
  • Conduct engineering tests and detailed experimental testing to collect design data or assist in research work.
  • Write engineering work standards as well as equipment, quality and manufacturing documentation.
  • Design, construction, testing and checkout of test and manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Improve the process for mirror manufacturing using lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Work to train and support operators as needed.
  • Meet production and output requirements, utilization, and yield rates.
  • Support the manufacturing operations and meet the key manufacturing metrics.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in engineering or equivalent.
  • Able to do DOE's, Process Capabilities, and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Able to work in a manufacturing environment.
  • English proficiency.

Experience

  • 3 years minimum of volume manufacturing experience as a mechanical, process, or industrial engineering.
  • Experience with both automated and manual manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with mechanical glass, optics, coatings, paint, robotics, fixturing, and optical testing is preferred.

Skills

  • Knowledge of safety requirements for assembly operations.
  • Understands and uses proper ergonomic concepts.
  • Has the ability to use power tools.
  • Self-starter requiring little or no supervision.
  • Manage own projects and provide regular productivity reports to management.
  • Adept with Microsoft Office Suite.
