Sales Manager
Mesa, AZ
The Sales Manager will develop business and sales activities in the southwestern United States. The primary focus of this position is to identify, develop, and close sales for small commercial and utility scale solar projects. The Sales Manager will work internally with marketing, field services, systems engineering, operations and finance to deliver competitive solutions to customers. Externally the Sales Manager will develop both direct sales opportunities and affiliate developer network sales.
Responsibilities
- Initiate and maintain high level of proactive, consultative client contact by developing and communicating a concise and articulate explanation of our product.
- Inform prospective clients of our product via site visits, presentations, and diligent follow through. Act as sales project manager throughout all phases of the sales cycle - setting priorities; filtering opportunities, managing sales activities with internal and external partners, and working with customers to structure energy projects.
- Effectively manage sales process through negotiation of contract close. Manage unique components of each transaction by effectively customizing. Ensure steady volume of transactions.
- Document sales activities including presentations, client meetings, and prospecting. Gather customer and market intelligence and report to management as appropriate.
Skills
- Strong aptitude for sales and proven ability to effectively close, including contract negotiation.
- Technical understanding of commercial and utility solar markets and products.
- Financial acumen; ability effectively communicate and utilize financial tools in evaluating, structuring solutions, and selling.
- Demonstrated ability to manage professional client relationships.
- Ability to manage projects and matrix resources/teams.
- Strong communication skills – Effective use of MS Office products required.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 business-to-business, technical sales experience.
- Solar industry experience preferably with utility, municipal, education, industrial, and commercial customers.
- BA/BS Degree (technical or business degree preferred).
- Experience with solar energy equipment installation and operation is a plus.
