It's an exciting time for the solar industry. There is no doubt that we are faced with challenging times with energy demand steadily rising coupled with issues wrapped around climate change. At SolFocus we are moving rapidly with new technology which holds the promise of delivering clean, renewable solar energy at the price of traditional energy from fossil fuels.
Through this newsletter, we plan to keep you informed on developments, deployments and activities wrapped around achieving the goal of grid parity in the upcoming years. With new technology it is important that the products be proven and tested to the strictest standards, particularly in the case of solar systems which must live and produce energy for 25 years. In this inaugural issue, we want to share with you a major milestone we have achieved. SolFocus is the first manufacturer of Concentrator Photovoltaic (CPV) systems to receive Certification to the IEC 62108 CPV standard. We have already proven that CPV can yield nearly twice the efficiency of traditional PV systems, but meeting the IEC's rigorous CPV requirements proves that SolFocus systems can perform consistently across a variety of climates and environments.
